Basic Knowledge
Bloodstone
is dark-green variety of the silica mineral chalcedony that
has nodules of bright-red jasper distributed throughout its
mass. Polished sections therefore show red spots on a dark-green
background, and from the resemblance of these to drops of blood
it derives its name. Its physical properties are those of quartz.
Healing ability: In ancient times, bloodstone
was thought to be able to stop hemorrhages with the merest touch.
Bloodstone relieves stomach pain. It strengthens blood purifying
organs and improves blood circulation.
Mystical
power: Bloodstone is used to help one become more knowledgeable
in the ways of the world. Bloodstone is also believed to be
a very magical stone.

Rare Uses and Items
There are two types of bloodstones on Scarn. Most of the bloodstones
from the Southern Continent of Termana do indeed have healing
properties, mostly dealing with the purification of the blood,
removing poisons, and curing diseases. That is, they have these
properties when in the hand of a Shaman or healer.
Some
sorcerers, who study the arts of divination, also find use for
these strange stones, which give them the ability to gather
more cultural knowledge from the subjects they scry, than they
would normally gather. Those found in the Northern continent
of Ghelspad however are a completely different story.
Most of the stones are benign, much like their cousins to the
south, however when the Titan Mesos exploded at his defeat,
his blood jeweled the land, and many of the stones which look
exactly like the normal bloodstones are not bloodstones at all,
but jade or quartz with sprays of Mesos' blood seeped inside.
These Titan bloodstones, if found in pure form, can be great
talismans in the hands of a sorcerer, adding to the amounts
of spells they can cast per day, and giving them true sight
when the stone is placed between the eyes. There are not many
of these stones in their true form however. The blood of Mesos
calls out for the other Titans, calling to their blood. Any
blood stone within 50 ft of a source of titan blood, instantly
becomes tainted by that blood, and the next time the sorcerer
uses the stone, she becomes poisoned by the titan's blood that
was absorbed. From that point, the blood stone is a cursed object
an anyone attempting to use the stone with magic, becomes blood
poisoned.
There are a few Gnomes in Shelzar, who are keen enough in the
knowledge of bloodstones that can tell the difference between
a blood stone, and a titan bloodstone. They are wrong 40% of
the time.
Necklace of Lady Guesling
The
Vampire, Lady Guesling lived in the southern tip of the Kelar
Mountains for over 300 years, and for most of that time she
was caged in her own crypt by her lover. Her necklace has an
older name, but since she has had it for so long most know it
only by her name.
