"How do you know this?" Tordek asked.
"I'm guessing really. It is the only thing that makes
sense to me. I know about the Slarecian worm constructs that
you told me about, the ones that damaged your axe. The ones
some barbarian tribes in the north use to kill wizards. Your
axe didn't explode then, and there are no tales of wizards or
their artifacts exploding either. During the war it is said
these dragons could sunder the power of the Gods from them."
"The Gods?" Tordek said, amazed.
"Yes, it is why they lost the war the first time."
Edrin said. "Look, I need to study this creature and see
if I can find the room behind that wall it was trying to get
to. It might take a few days. Now that I have seen the place,
and know where the shadows are, I can take you back the Shelzar
and return here on my own if you wish. Staying here could be
very dangerous."
"Ha!" Replied Tordek. "Just when I start thinking
you are a really smart guy you go and say something like that.
Do your study. I'll watch your back and keep my ears open. If
we leave we leave together or not at all."
Edrin nodded. "So be it. We'll make camp up one level.
I'll get started immediately. There are questions here that
need answering, and some answers I need confirmed. Best to get
started and get out of here as soon as we can."
