Relics & Rituals Updates

Here's a list of errata and clarifications to the first printing of Relics & Rituals. Anyone who notes possible errors or frequently asked questions in need of clarification that are not listed here, please e-mail such to sword@swordsorcery.com

General Corrections:

p.10 Under Requirements, yes it should read "To qualify to become a crypt lord" not to become an incarnate.

p.12 Under Requirements, already possessing wild shape is not a requirement to become an incarnate.

p. 15 Under Requirements, penumbral lords only need 5 ranks in Hide not 10.

p.16 Table 1-4 The first level "Spells per Day" is off one column. The 3 after the darkvision special is actually the number of 0-level spells and the other numbers get moved over one column to the right.

p. 17 The 1st level spell penumbral trap did not make the final squeeze to be fit into Relics & Rituals so it does not appear in the book. Maybe it will make it into the next R&R volume.

p.19 As above the 5th level spells call celestial/fiendish monster and sending do not appear in R&R.

p. 34 The goddess Tanil also offers her worshippers access to the Luck domain.

p. 34 Under the Missionary Domain the 5th and 6th level spells are reversed. Inquisition should be 5th level and prying eyes should be 6th. Spell updates (listed in alphabetical order by spell)

p.39 Divine wisdom is listed as both a 2nd and 3rd level paladin spell, it is only a 2nd level spell.

pp. 26-46 The 2nd printing of core rulebook I makes dancing lights and continual flame Evocation spells.

Spell Corrections:

Acid Spittle The duration should be "until discharged, up to 1 hour/level". A caster may not have more than one dose of acid spittle stored in their stomach for discharge at once. The component should be 16 oz. of wine, not 6 oz..

Battlecry is a 2nd level War Domain spell not 1st level as indicated on the War Domain spell list.

Beast Soul is a 3rd level druid spell not 2nd level as indicated in the spell stat block. Also, casters of level 8 or lower receive any or all skills of the animal, not casters of level 5 or lower.

Commanding Presence should be a Transmutation school spell not an. Enchantment (Compulsion).

Curtain of Darkness lists Trickery as a descriptor. There is no such thing. We don't know how it got here either!

Distort Shadow should be an Illusion (Glamer) not Transmutation.

Doomwail requires a Fortitude save not a Will save as its summary text in the spell lists would like to indicate.

Flame Bolt further play-test has indicated this should be limited to a maximum of nine missiles rather than being unlimited.

Flash should have the [Light] descriptor. Its duration is instantaneous not 1 round/level (those afflicted are blinded for 1d3 rounds per the spell). In case it doesn't go without saying, sightless creatures are not affected by flash.

Freezing Curse: should have the [Cold] descriptor.

Ganest's Farstrike due to its parabolic arc, the bolt requires overhead clearance equal to 1/3 the distance the bolt travels, normally making it only useful outdoors.

Glue The DC to get unstuck from the glue should be 15 not 20.

Ilajam Fire should have the [Fire] descriptor.

Life Shield is listed out of alphabetical order, but is in the book on p.84

Obscure Shadow should be an Illusion (Glamer) not Transmutation.

Pass the Years should be Necromancy not Transmutation. A greater restoration spell will reverse the aging effects of the spell.

Rabbit Feet should be an Illusion (Glamer) not Transmutation.

Reshape Shadow should be an Illusion (Glamer) not Transmutation.

Rune of Darkness should be Evocation not Abjuration and should have the [Darkness] descriptor.

Salamar's Quiet Contemplation is a 1st level druid spell not 2nd level as indicated in the spell stat block.

Smother should have the [Force] descriptor. Spark should have the [Fire] descriptor.

Steal Sleep should be Necromancy not Enchantment.

Magic Item Corrections:

Hammer of Shattering deals half again its normal damage to construct type creatures and creatures with the "earth" descriptor.

Amulet of Ghost Armor the Powers: of this item can be confusing. For simplicity of game rules, the amulet conveys a 7 deflection bonus to armor class, but will not function while any other armor is worn or while any other item or enchantment is providing any other bonus to armor class. It drains one hit point per hour it is active and the wearer cannot be affected by curing magic while the amulet is active but may be affected by touch attacks normally.

Kadum's Pearls: Pearl of Strife has a prerequisite spell of Belsameth's Strife rather than Mind Fog.

Solar Brooch has a prerequisite spell of sunbeam, and the required caster level is 12.

Staff of Divine Flame may invoke Ganest's Farstrike (2 charges) instead of the Firestrike (1 charge) effect.
