Jantharon, the Shard Blade

After the destruction of the Titan Chern and the Elven god, whose name can now only be recalled as That Which Abides, the ones called the Forsaken were a people in mourning. An elven artificer/warrior by the name of Lyderain Vaholithear was no exception, and spent days wandering the Cliffs of Promise, gathering the pieces of the divine shards that the god's followers had used to bring about the death of the Scourge. Of those that bore into the titan's flesh and remained there, many had shattered at the moment of the Titan's demise. It was these that Lyderain sought. The knowledge of what became of most of the pieces was lost in the ensuing chaos of the post war troubles all of elven society was experiencing, but what is know is that Lyderain used a portion of the fragments in his final creation by grinding them to dust and mixing them with smelted ore, which he used to fashion a blade.

The forsaken elves were greatly injured, as a race, by Chern's curse. And Lyderain died shortly after the blade's completion. The sword's name was the final utterance to escape his lips, before he passed on. How it is that the name bears a resemblance to the supposedly forgotten elven god's name is a mystery, and not one that is discussed, as no one is the wiser.

Halaysius, the son of Lyderain, whom was only three years of age when the Scourge struck the Cliffs of Promise, inherited the sword, and has used it in his travels. So far, the blade's full power has yet to be realized.

Jantharon is a single edged shortsword that is not unlike a cutlass, albeit perhaps a bit lighter. The hilt and guard are fashioned of gold and black metal into an ornate, rounded design. The handle is simply wrapped in black leather. Up close, the silver sheen of the blade can be seen to glitter as tiny pieces of the crystalline shards catch the light.

Non-legacy games statistics: +1 shortsword (does slashing damage instead of piercing, due to the design). If a creature that is infected with a disease (mundane or magical), or a creature with the Disease extraordinary ability, comes within 60 feet of the sword, the blade flickers with a blue light. The flickering will grow more intense as the subject draws nearer.
