Eric's Band of Mercenaries
The Band The mercenary group that Eric Rake leads, calls themselves simply, The Band, after the rock group of the same name. The group is comprised of five core members, but occasionally they have others with them, various specialist the Band has come in contact with over the years. As far as Eric knows, the Band is human, as in, nothing special about them and no monsters allowed. What he doesn't know about his members could fill novels, perhaps libraries -- and what he doesn't know about himself, might drive him mad. The only member of "special talent" who has been an exception to this rule of membership, is Micheal (aka : Rabbit), who Eric knows is a Scion of Rabbit, an Iroquois God-Spirit. Micheal's membership is solely allowed because Rabbit is the only surviving member of a band of scions who were captured and killed by a German Werewolf clan, and Rabbit has promised to lead Eric back to the place, and help him exact the vengeance Eric is thirsty for. Rabbit's promise is given on condition. Rabbit will not lead him back there simply to let Eric commit suicide by werewolf. He has to be skilled enough to at least have a chance of survival. Eric has agreed to this condition. The Twilight Network Information on the Twilight Network will find no contradiction to the belief that the Band is comprised of skilled, but human, warriors who hire themselves out as mercenaries to anyone with enough money to pay them. They have few limitations on who they will work for, the only two, really, are Vampires and Werewolves. Eric's general hatred for the Darker creatures/races of the World of Darkness, is well known by anyone who has heard of the Band. The group's knowledge and fighting ability against these creatures/races, is also well known and respected -- though not understood. Several groups, of both vampires and werewolves, are constantly seeking knowledge regarding the Band, and these groups have found this to be a dangerous effort, but still they have not been able to figure out how a group of mere humans can be such an effective force against the obviously more powerful races of the World of Darkness. Curiosity is one thing, but practicality is another, and most of the time, these denizens of the darkness are more concerned with those who hire the Band, than the Band itself. Hiring the Band is a clear sign that a foe is aware of your status, race and location, as well as in possession of vast resources of money and power. They have to be, if they can afford bringing in the Band to fight under their banner. Several plans of assassination, assaults, and theft, have been aborted, simply because the plotters have discovered that the target hired the Band for protection. The Band rarely hires itself out to long term assignments, and work only a few months of the year. They spend the rest of the year immersed in training, research and the development of information resources. So as they say in the music world, ... if you need backup, call The Band.
