The Ship-Wights

The Ship-Wights

The Ship-Wights aren't a very old Krewe of Sin-Eaters and are comprised mostly of those known to Sin-Eaters as Bone Pickers, though in their number are several channels of the Celebrants. Their current membership is fifty members, and growing.

Their rapid growth is due to a value added factor for these young, party loving people... money. Lots of money. With that money is also a form of power rarely seen in the ranks of the Sin-Eater people.

Just about all of the contradictions found in and around the Ship-Wight Krewe can be easily answered -- they aren't a real Krewe. Since their membership is mostly composed of young people who are really not interested in ritual, meaning or purpose, there is no talk about the Ship-Wight's Krewe status, and without the talk from the members, those on the Twilight Network just assume that they are a Krewe. What they really are, is a gang.

Barron Henson acts as default leader of this gang of Sin-Eaters, with his current girl-friend Carrie Ford. Case Manning and Samson Berry are more or less, muscle. Gordon Mathews, and Wess Marshal have both proven their worth as members of the Krewe for resources, leads, and cunning.

About a year ago, a small group of vampires came across the Ship-Wights, and noticing their lack of true Krewe status, or rather the lack of ritual power that comes from true Krewe status, decided that the Ship-Wights were a good source of muscle and perhaps, if properly guided, other areas. Certainly there was always a use for high-energy youths with access to the Underworld. The vampires thus attempted to bring the Ship-Wight Krewe under-thumb.

This was a fatal move for the vampires. Barron Henson, while not the brightest penny in the jar, runs on the high-edge of very sharp animal instincts. The vampires believed, through previous experience, they would have at least a few meetings with the Krewe, before any resistance might develop from the vampire interest. They would start with the opening of possibilities, perhaps hire a small group of them as security for a gathering, over pay them a little, test a few of their skills, and through some amiable social interaction, discover the best use for such a group.

Barron's instincts told him the vampires were only interested in one thing, slaves. Talking to the rest of the core group, covertly during the first meeting, his krewe agreed. The slaughter of the vampires came in the form of a raw, animal like assault. Instinct was enough of a provocation for Barron, and it always has been, especially when confronted with creatures posing a real threat, such as vampires.

Since that time, there have been a few interested vampires coming into the area, mostly searching for information about the missing group. None of them have approached the Krewe directly, but Barron and his team are well aware that they have had more than one Watcher on the roadways and in the woods.

The Krewe met Martin one Saturday afternoon. Martin was a normal human, as far as they could tell. Certainly not a threat, yet he seemed to know more about Sin-Eaters than the Krewe did themselves. Martin offered them a can of Chum, and talked to them about the Krewe's interesting game of Iou-Batting. Ever since that day, everything changed for the Ship-Wights.

Quick is better than Dead... the motto of the Ship-Wights.
