first, questions latter. The sentiment of Rurik on a normal day
which has often cost him both in personal injury and sometimes
even the respect of his party members. No one who has seen Rurik
in battle has ever questioned his ability or his courage. For
some reason though the dwarf continues to rush in to prove himself,
often worried about not getting in a hit, or falling one of the
enemies on his own.
Rurik however has not been in the world for very long. He was
charged with following the elf prince Edrin
Northstar around and reporting back to his stronghold. The
leaders of the stronghold were concerned about the elf and his
sudden decision to build a residence very close to their gates.
Feeling both, partly responsible for his wellbeing, and wanting
to know what he was up to, they dispatched Rurik to be a hired
hand on Edrin's ranch.
If Edrin ever found
out about the ruse, or ever cared about the ruse, he has never
said.
Once in Mithril
and with Edrin's decision
to remain in Mithril
for the foreseeable future, Rurik thought that his job had been
completed, but the stronghold sent back the message that he
should remain in Scarn, and continue to send information back
to the stronghold about the strange land. With such vague orders,
Rurik often feels out of place and drifting.
Most of the time he tries to stay close to Tordek,
a fellow dwarf fighter he met when he arrived in Mithril.
